Blindman Brewing Releases Jean Turn 1 Foeder-Aged Trappist Single

LACOMBE, AB – Blindman Brewing has announced the release of its first foeder-aged beer.

Jean Turn 1: Foeder-Aged Trappist Single (4.4% abv) has the following back story:

  • We purchased 2 foeders (3000L ex-cognac wood tanks from France) in 2016 with the help of our friends through a crowdfunding campaign.

  • They arrived in early 2017. We named them Jean and Pierre, after Jean-Pierre, the master cooper who made these beauties for us.

  • We needed to do some repairs, but were able to fill Pierre pretty early on. Jean did not get filled until November of 2017, with a Trappist Single.

  • We waited. And waited. And waited…. for the beer to do its thing in the wood. It is tough to be patient with an exciting project like this, but we knew it was the right thing to do for the beer.

  • Finally in the fall of 2019 – 2 years after filling the beast – it was time to unleash this beer onto the world. We got it into 500mL bottles, let it condition, and released it a couple of weeks ago to our original crowdfunder backers.

  • And now, it is released to all!

Jean Turn 1 is available now in 500 ml bottles at the brewery and select retailers in Alberta while supplies last.
