Caravel Brewery Closes Calgary Taproom & Brewhouse, Shifting to Contract Brewing

CALGARY, AB – A brewery in northeast Calgary has announced the closure of its brewing facility and taproom, as well as plans to keep its brand alive.

Caravel Brewery was launched in mid-2017 by Vlad & Victoria Covali and Chris & Claire Travis, and focused on “new exploration on old brewing traditions”.

In a brief interview with the On Beer website, Vlad Covali says that the decision to close was made before the COVID-19 lockdown, and was based on several financial factors. He notes that the company hopes to open a smaller brewing location in the future, and will be looking to contract brewing its beers in the meantime to keep product on the shelves, although the timing of those plans will depend on how the COVID-19 situation progresses.
