TORONTO, ON – Shacklands Brewing has announced the release of a new beer with a moniker that expresses the brewery’s displeasure with what it views as a lack of positive social action from organizations that represent the brewing industry.
Fuck the Guilds (4.8% abv) is a “double dry-hopped saison with an awful lot of Azacca and Galaxy hops,” and was releases with the following statement:
We need our brewing guilds to step up and recognize that craft beer is changing. We need to recognize and support the change. Most of the best voices in beer belong to women and members of the LGBTQIA2S+ and BIPOC communities. We need to make space for them, and we need to make sure their voices get heard at all levels in the industry. In craft beer, we’ve often looked to our guilds for guidance and insight. The past few months, and, indeed, years, they’ve been largely silent on issues of equity and inclusion. That’s wrong. And they need to do better.
Fuck the Guilds is available now in 500 ml bottles at the Shacklands retail shop and online store.
