Wellington Brewery Releases Sweet Caroline Sour with Navel Orange

GUELPH, ON – Wellington Brewery has announced the release of its final small batch of 2020.

Sweet Caroline (4.5% abv) is a sour ale brewed with navel orange, and described as follows:

This special kettle sour was brewed as a tribute to brewmaster Marvin Dyck’s daughter. A hazy sour with layers of orange permeating the experience from start to finish. The initial tartness is punctuated by a slight navel orange nose. Vibrant, playful citrus tones resonate throughout, finishing with an effervescent, bright, morning-mimosa experience. Weeping may last for the night, but joy comes with the morning.

Dyck provides more background on how the beer came about:

Losing my daughter was one of the darkest days of my life and wrestling through the grief is an ongoing process. I commemorate her life with what I know best, a beer personally crafted in her honour. Sweet navel oranges accompany this kettle sour on its journey much like friends, family and faith have been there for us. I’d love for you to raise a glass and join the journey. We all have sour times in life that need a Sweet Caroline, bah, bah, bah… I can’t wait for my hand to touch her hand again and we’ll have those good times together, forever.

Sweet Caroline is available now at the Wellington Brewery retail store and online shop. Partial proceeds from its sales will go to support Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep, an organization that “aims to offer every family experiencing the death of a baby the healing power of remembrance.”
