South Block Barbecue & Brewing Co. Now Open in Calgary

CALGARY, AB – A new establishment offering “North Carolina-style BBQ, house-brewed beer, live music and a sun-soaked beer garden” is now open in Calgary’s Mission District.

South Block Barbecue & Brewing Co. comes from the team behind two other BBQ-focused restaurants in Calgary – Hayden Block and Comery Block -and is located in the space that was previously home to Wurst, a popular Bavarian-style restaurant and bar that closed in March 2020.

Alongside a food menu that goes beyond typical BBQ fare to include unique items such as apricot pork belly, bacon-wrapped stuffed peppers, and whole smoked trout, South Block is launching with a line-up of a dozen beers including Big Lick Lager (5% abv), Sabal Palm Czech Pilsner (5% abv), Whirligig Pale Ale (5% abv), Frunchard Session IPA (4% abv), Judaculla NEIPA (6.4% abv), East To West Coast IPA (6.8% abv), Red, Hot & Blue IPA (7.2% abv), Mission Mango Wheat Ale (4.5% abv), Cattywampus Cranberry Kettle Sour (5.4% abv), Steeper Rooibos Red Ale (4.8% abv), Tree Shaker Bourbon Peach Ale (6% abv), and Buxton Brown Ale (5% abv).
