Molson Coors and Six Pints Collective Launch Financial Awards for BIPOC and Female Brewing Students in Canada

TORONTO, ON – Molson Coors Beverage Company and its Six Pints Collective division have announced the launch of a pair of financial awards to assist Black, Indigenous and people of colour (BIPOC) and female students who are enrolled in post-secondary brewing programs in Canada.

Established with a goal “to better integrate cultural and ethical minorities as well as women in the male-dominant industry of beer,” the awards will be available to students in Bishop’s University’s Graduate Certificate in Brewing Science program in Quebec, Niagara College’s Brewmaster and Brewery Operations Management program in Ontario, and Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s (KPU) Brewing and Brewery Operations program in British Columbia.

The two awards and their full descriptions are as follows:

The Molson Coors BIPOC Brewing Award

Presented by Molson Coors, this award encourages Black, Indigenous and people of color (BIPOC) to join the brewing industry. The company believes that the future of brewing is bright at the hands of these graduates. It is their corporate belief that systemic barriers have no place in creating great beverages and that brewing professionals should be as diverse as the people who enjoy their creations.

The Six Pints Women in Brewing Award

Presented by the Craft arm of Molson Coors, Six Pints Collective, this award encourages female students pursuing careers in brewing who will push the boundaries and build up beer. Six Pints is a collection of breweries and brands who have the front foot on innovation and are dedicated to driving overall growth across the industry. They believe in the unique and diverse contributions of each person behind the brewing process and recognize the positive impact social differences have on the collective.

“In 2021, there is no room for systemic barriers in the beverage industry, or any industry for that matter,” says Frederic Landtmeters, President of Molson Coors Beverage Company in Canada, in a statement. “With these new awards, we’re honored to play a role in building a diverse pipeline of brewing talent in Canada and we wish these students a bright and successful future ahead.”
