HAMILTON, ON – MERIT Brewing has announced that it will be marking its 5th anniversary this week with the release of five new limited edition beers, including the latest vintage of an annual favourite, and collaborations with four breweries spanning from coast to coast.
Wild Years 2022 Brett Saison (8.0% abv):
For our five year anniversary, this year’s vintage of Wild Years underwent mixed fermentation before being conditioned on Muscat grape skins from Fielding Estates and Peaches from Niagara. Naturally conditioned in bottles since November, Wild Years displays bright white wine aromatics of bright citrus and peach finishing dry and refreshing.
Day Ones Tart Grisette (4.6% abv):
When we opened back in 2017, we found ourselves in great company in the Fairweather Brewing team, who opened in the same year! To commemorate our combined fifth anniversary, we brewed Day Ones, a tart, grisette (think small saison!) with Indian Coriander and Grapefruit for a deliciously flavourful and dry drinking summer favourite. Ocean Meets The Land East Coast Lager (4.5% abv):
There’s a hint of seabreeze that meets crisp malt and a refreshing finish. That’s when the Ocean Meets The Land. Brewed in collaboration with our pals at 2 Crows Brewing in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Ocean Meets the Land is the perfect blend brewing styles and our places in Canadian geography. Brewed with Maritime malt from Shoreline Malting and dulse, the classic East Coast red seaweed delicacy, OMTL drinks clean and easy with a hint of gentle cracker and a hint of gentle florality and a wisp of breezy salinity.
A Dream About Love Double IPA (8.4% abv):
There’s no more fitting style for MERIT and Third Moon Brewing to brew than a mammoth Double IPA double dry hopped with Ekuanot, Lotus, Sasquatch, Huell Melon and Eclipse hops. A Dream About Love bursts at the seams with delicious candied orange aromatics and a swirling blend of mixed citrus, melon, apricot and light berry flavours with gentle florality and hints of pine.
Wind Walker West Coast IPA (7% abv):
Brewing a a collab with Delta, BC’s Four Winds Brewing means awakening the power of the West Coast IPA! In this case, deliciously sticky apricot and gentle berry flavours brought together by the piney, resinous hop character of Simcoe, Cascade and Centennial hops, wrapped in a deliciously bitter finish.
The celebrate the five year milestone, MERIT will be closed tomorrow (Wednesday May 11th) so the team can go on a mini pub crawl to debut the new beers at two of their favourite bars in Hamilton. Day Ones, Ocean Meets The Land, and A Dream About Love will also be pouring at ODDS Bar starting at 7:00 PM, while Wild Years and Wind Walker will be available at Farside at 9:00 PM.
Retail sales for all five beers will follow on Thursday May 12th at the MERIT Brewing bottle shop and online store.
