2 Crows Brewing Releases The Agenda Grapefruit Basil Radler

HALIFAX, NS – 2 Crows Brewing has announced the release of a new beer in support of a local charity.

The Agenda Grapefruit Basil Radler (2% abv):

For those playing along at home, a Radler is a half-beer, half-fruit soda concoction. They are super duper refreshing in warmer weather — great for patio drinking, lounging in a pool, or dressing in chaps and going to a rodeo.

For our version, our queer-identifying members of staff – Mairi, Mairi, and Tessa – did a little trial to figure out the best way to develop the flavours we were after. We trialled a few different grapefruit sodas, grapefruit juices, and grapefruit extracts, along with some fresh basil in varying amounts to land on what we thought tasted best.

We then created our own little grapefruit + basil soda by combining grapefruit puree, sugar, and a touch of natural grapefruit extract, along with a couple cases worth of fresh orange zest and juice and fresh basil.

To this spritzy little soda pop we added an equal portion of a well-lagered light lager we make here, AC. The result is super crushable, super fresh, super summery. Big on the grapefruit, with subtle basil, and a nice clean finish.

The Agenda features a label by local artist Audrey Chan, and is available now at the 2 Crows taproom and online shop. 100% of proceeds will go to South House, a “student-funded, volunteer-driven resource centre that seeks to address and advocate for anti-oppression issues in relation to sexuality and gender.”

The release of The Agenda will be celebrated with a Rhinestone Cowboy-themed party at the brewery tomorrow (Saturday June 11th) with food from Cafe Aroma Latino starting at 1:00 PM, and DJ EFFA spinning honky tonk starting at 7:00 PM.
