City of Vancouver to Permanently Allow Alcohol Consumption in Select Public Plazas

VANCOUVER, BC – Following on the recent extension and expansion of the Alcohol Consumption in Parks Pilot Program, the City of Vancouver has announced that the Alcohol Consumption in Public Plazas Program which ran as a pilot in 2020 and 2021 will now become a permanent seasonal program.

Of the more than 20 pop-up plazas that are set up throughout the city, the following six (with their respective stewards noted in parentheses) will allow responsible drinking by those of legal age:

  • Cambie Street and 17th Avenue (Cambie Village Business Association)
  • Granville Street and 13th Avenue (South Granville Business Improvement Association)
  • Granville Street and 14th Avenue (South Granville Business Improvement Association)
  • Lot 19, 855 West Hastings Street (Downtown Vancouver Business Improvement Association)
  • Main Street and 21st Avenue (Coco et Olive, Little Mountain Neighbourhood House, residents)
  • Maple Street and 4th Avenue (Kitsilano West 4th Avenue Business Improvement Association)

For 2022, the program will run from June 15th to October 16th, with alcohol consumption allowed from 11:00 AM and 9:00 PM daily.
