Left Field Brewery Names Native Women’s Resource Centre of Toronto as Latest Beer For Everybody Beneficiary

TORONTO, ON – Left Field Brewery has announced the next group to benefit from Beer For Everybody, the brewery’s ongoing “initiative to showcase and support local organizations that work to dismantle systemic inequities.”

From now until November 24th, 100% of profits from all Beer For Everybody apparel and donations made at check-out for both online and in-person purchases will be donated to the Native Women’s Resource Centre of Toronto, an organization that “provides a safe and welcoming environment for all Indigenous women and their children in the Greater Toronto Area.”

The announcement includes the following statement from the brewery:

In a literal sense, we know that beer is not for everybody. Alcohol has historically been used as a colonial tool to control, manipulate and marginalize Indigenous communities, repercussions of which continue to harm Indigenous people to this day. We have chosen to support the Native Women’s Resource Centre through this initiative as an acknowledgement of this truth, and to financially support them in their efforts to provide healing. We thank the team at the Native Women’s Resource Centre for working closely with us through the planning stages of this session, so we could ensure we are supporting them honourably, and we will continue an open dialogue over the coming months. This article provides context from an Indigenous perspective, as well as links for continued learning.
