Vancouver Island Brewing and Wandering Mollusk Releasing Oyster Stout

VICTORIA, BC – Vancouver Island Brewery has announced the release of a new collaboration with seafood catering company Wandering Mollusk.

Vancouver Island x Wandering Mollusk Oyster Stout (5.3% abv):

A true Vancouver Island Experience, pairing local seafood with Vancouver Island Beer. Wandering Mollusk brought fresh oysters to the brewhouse that we combined into a rich and slightly sweet oatmeal stout. The result is a beautiful medium-bodied beer, with chocolate roasted malts, and a touch of briny minerality. Gather your friends, shuck up some oysters and crack a few of these beers.

Oyster Stout will be officially launched at Shuckin’ Shindig, taking place this Friday November 25th from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the brewery. The event will be marking Blue Friday, which is an alternative to Black Friday that “started with a group of small Canadian businesses that care about ocean conservation and sustainability, to change the conversation surrounding mass consumerism, disrupt the norm and create change for the future.”

In addition to the debut of the new beer, Shuckin’ Shindig will include an oyster bar from Wandering Mollusk, live music from Porcelain Horse, underwater photography from Chris Mullen, and a silent auction. 50% of VIB’s taproom, retail, and online sales for the day, as well as all proceeds from the auction, will go to Surfrider‘s styrofoam processing facility project in Ucluelet.
