Village Brewery Co-Founder Jim Button Passes Away

CALGARY, AB – Jim Button, co-founder of Calgary’s Village Brewery, has passed away at age 59 after a long battle with cancer.

Button and several partners opened Village Brewery in 2011, previous to which he had been an executive with Big Rock Brewery.

His death was announced on January 19th via a pre-written post entitled “I Died Today” on his Gather With Jim blog, in which he discussed the importance of family, friends, and community in his life, and encouraged readers to follow this mantra:

Live. Love. Laugh. Repeat. Family first. Collect and nurture deep friendships. Build community.

A page commemorating Button was published on the Village Brewery website, including an announcement of the Jim Button Community Builders Fund which has been established through the Calgary Foundation by the brewery in partnership with Evans Hunt Advertising, Dave Kelly Live and the Button family.

Jim Button is survived by his wife, Tracey, his son, Jack, and his daughter, Amanda. Memorial service details are yet to be announced.
