Bellwoods Brewery Releases Vines Sangria Grape Ale and Quadruple Ratclops IPA

TORONTO, ON – Bellwoods Brewery has announced the latest release in its Vines Grape Ale series, and its first ever Quadruple IPA.

Vines Sangria (6.8% abv):

This Vines began in the same fashion as others in our wine-influence series: by inoculating wort with yeast from pressed grape skins. While it was maturing and mulling things over in barrels, so were we. Where do we take this elixir after its ses jours in oak?, we wondered.

Enter: Vines Sangria. For optimal beer/wine hybrid status, we returned to our wine-based mood board for inspiration and our next steps were clear: blend the barrels together and further condition the beer on Riesling (from Niagara-on-the-Lake), tangerine, dark cherry and lime zest. Within each can you’ll find an undeniably fun and delicious portal to a backyard pool party with the expected fruity kick of tangerine, cherry and lime, atop a more complex wine and wild ale base.

Quadruple Ratclops (11.5% abv):

What may appear to be the result of a nuclear meltdown, is in fact the end of the line in our unexpectedly prolific Ratclops pedigree. As you might expect from a beer with 11.5% alc./vol.: it’s strong! Extra strong even! That said, it is also remarkably soft and fruity, with notes of mango nectar, piña colada, and lime soda. And though we joked non-stop about using the quadratic formula to develop the recipe, we’re still not super clear on how this works — if there are any math geniuses out there: hit us up.

Both beers are available now at both Bellwoods retail stores and the brewery’s online shop.
