North Brewing Releases Chalo Chalo Brown Ale

COLE HARBOUR, NS – North Brewing has announced the release of a new beer inspired by the sweet and spicy flavours of Southeast Asia.

Chalo Chalo Brown Ale (6% abv):

This beer was brewed with a mixture of several fun specialty malts, as well as a hearty dose of Jaggery (a traditional cane sugar consumed in the Indian Subcontinent, South Asia, and Africa) in the boil. When you purchase jaggery, it almost looks like a block of brown sugar fudge. It tastes and smells like a combination of molasses, brown sugar and some staff have noted hints of maple too. Near the end of fermentation, we added a massive 25 litres of fresh pressed ginger juice to give it a big, fun ginger flavour and aroma, while remaining balanced.

This flavour combination is very typical in many Indian desserts, and the Brown Ale beer base is an excellent canvas to build these flavours on. The jaggery and dark malts come together in the beer as a comforting molasses/brown bread/cookie vibe, and the ginger is the perfect cold weather companion for the rest of the flavours to really shine.

Chalo Chalo is available now all North Brewing locations and the brewery’s online shop.
