Glasstown Brewing Opening This Weekend in Wallaceburg, Ontario

WALLACEBURG, ON – A new brewery and restaurant with a local focus is opening its doors this weekend in Wallaceburg, a small community in the Southwestern Ontario municipality of Chatham-Kent.

Glasstown Brewing has been founded by Todd Shepley, a local entrepreneur who drew inspiration from visits to breweries in other cities and towns while travelling for his job in the tool and die industry.

Located in an historic building in downtown Wallaceburg, Glasstown takes its name from the area’s history as a hub for glass making in Canada. It’s also situated directly on the Sydenham River, with a spot for boats to tie up at the back entrance to the brewery.

Head brewer David Draper has prepared a line-up of a half-dozen beers for the launch weekend, including Juicy IPA (6% abv), Pale Ale (5.5% abv), Dry Stout (5% abv), Double IPA (7.5% abv), Session IPA (4.5% abv), and Sour IPA (6% abv).

The food menu from chef Iain Farrell takes advantage of the fact that the kitchen boasts the largest wood-burning stove in Wallaceburg, and features a range of pizzas along with soft pretzels and salad, with more items to be added in coming weeks.

Glasstown Brewing is located at 331 James Street in Wallaceburg, and will be open over the long weekend (May 20th to 22nd) from 1:00 PM to 12:00 midnight on Saturday, 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM on Sunday, and 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM on Monday.
