Bevi Birra Acquires Halo Brewery

TORONTO, ON – Craft beer retailer and sandwich shop Bevi Birra has taken ownership of Toronto’s Halo Brewery.

The first signs of the change were seen in late October, when Halo co-owner Sara Vinten posted on Instagram that she would no longer be “the disembodied voice of Halo on social”.

Another post announcing the availability of Bevi Birra sandwiches in the Halo taproom followed several days later, and the “merger” of the two business was officially revealed this past Saturday.

Bevi Birra was launched in 2020 by Paul Liberti and Sam Puntillo, who are also partners in beer mail order and distribution service Small Batch Dispatch. The first location in Woodbridge was joined earlier this year by a spot in Toronto’s Junction neighbourhood.

Halo Brewery opened for business in May 2016, with co-founders Eric Portelance and Callum Hay heading up the brewing program. Portelance left after several years and now co-owns Slake Brewing, while Hay and Vinten kept Halo running until the sale.

While no further details about the deal have been revealed, the brief social media post indicates that the new owners are “not changing anything that you’ve come to love about Halo”.
