NOBLETON, ON – Beer educator Roger Mittag reports on his Quench Your Thirst blog that Sean Fleming and Troy Taylor, owners of import agency Beer Barons, have purchased King Brewery from founder and brewmaster Phil DiFonzo.
According to the report, DiFonzo will be remaining with King as the brewmaster, and in a subsequent update from Troy Burtch on the Great Canadian Beer Blog, Fleming notes that they “will be working on a significant expansion and will look at getting into other Canadian markets.”
Beer Barons was created by Fleming and Taylor several years ago to act as importers of the Weihenstephan beer brands into Canada. They’ve since expanded to represent several other European breweries, but this purchase marks their first foray into the domestic beer market.
