FREDERICTON, NB – Picaroons Traditional Ales has announced that it has become the second Canadian brewery – and only the fifth brewery in the world – to be officially certified as a Benefit Corporation or B Corp.
As noted on the B Corp website, companies receiving this certification have been shown to “meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.”
In the announcement, Picaroons says that it is “excited and honoured to be recognized, and are committed to the challenge of increasing our support for the community, our employees, and the environment.”
Other breweries amongst the more than 1,150 certified B Corp members in numerous industries and countries around the world include Ontario’s Beau’s All Natural Brewing – which received certification last year – and American breweries New Belgium Brewing, Bison Brewing and Bull City Burger & Brewery.
