SAINT JOHN, NB – Fredericton’s Trailway Brewing has announced the opening of a new off-shoot location in Saint John.
Union House by Trailway officially opened over the weekend in a spot that was previously home to the First City Brew Pub. Trailway owners Jake Saunders and Dan Mason purchased the building in late 2021 with plans to open in summer 2022, but various delays pushed that out to this month.
The space includes a brewing system for small-batch and one-off beers, and a taproom offering a selection of Trailway beers along with wine and cider. A short food menu is also available, including beef and veggie burgers, fried chicken sandwiches, and snacks.
To mark the opening, Trailway has launched Out & About Pale Ale (5.3% abv), a house beer for the new location that has a “primary note of bready malt, sweetened by soft notes of stone fruit. Clean, crisp, flavourful– but extremely approachable.”
An article on Huddle earlier this year noted that there are also plans to open a “Trailway Inn” above Union House, with three units available for short-term rentals.
Union House by Trailway is located at 143 Union Street in Saint John, and is open from 12:00 noon to 9:00 PM on Sunday to Tuesday, 12:00 noon to 10:00 PM on Wednesday and Thursday, and 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM on Friday and Saturday. It’s the third location for Trailway, joining the main brewery and The Drome by Trailway bowling alley.
