Nonsuch Brewing Releases Rice Lager With Pu’erh Tea

WINNIPEG, MB – Nonsuch Brewing has announced the release of a new limited edition lager brewed with a unique and distinctive ingredient.

Rice Lager With Pu’erh Tea (4.5% abv):

We sourced a special order of aged, fermented white Pu’erh tea directly from China for this small batch. This tea was grown in the Yunnan province, considered to be the birthplace of all tea – after centuries of the use of cuttings and graftings, tea trees from all over the world can be traced back to this magical region.

Pu’erh is a variety of tea where controlled microbial fermentation (or ‘wet piling’) happens after the tea leaves have been sufficiently dried and rolled. As the tea undergoes fermentation, it continues to oxidize until the desired flavours are reached. This particular batch is a white tea (meaning it uses the most delicate new growth of leaves) which has been aged for five years after being harvested.

To allow the signature earthy and floral characteristics from the tea to shine through, we brewed a crisp, clean rice lager. The result: something you have to try for yourself to believe.

Rice Lager With Pu’erh Tea is available now at the Nonsuch taproom, retail store, and online store.
