COOPERSTOWN, NY – The Belgian-inspired American craft brewery Ommegang Brewery has announced that Iron Throne Blonde Ale, the first in a planned series of beers it has created in collaboration with the HBO television series Game of Thrones, will soon be coming to Canada.

Already available in the United States in advance of the show’s Season 3 premiere on March 31st, Iron Throne was developed by Ommegang and HBO to “directly tie into themes and nuances of the medieval-like fantasy realm of Westeros and the surrounding kingdoms, where the competition to sit on the Iron Throne is fierce and deadly.”

According to a recent Facebook comment from an Ommegang representative, Iron Throne Blonde Ale will be available in Ontario and Alberta in bottles and on draught, and in British Columbia on draught only. A subsequent story in the National Post confirmed that the Canadian release is planned for late April.

  1. I still have not found this beer in Ontario and it’s now the end of May and close to the end of the Game of Thrones season. Does anybody know if this beer is still coming up this way or if it already has and I’m just missing it? I keep checking The Beer Store and LCBO (our only beer suppliers in Ontario, other than micro brewers due to our government having such a tight iron fist on our liquor trade….but that’s another topic). If anybody has any information to help me in my search it would be highly appreciated.

    1. Anthony – You haven’t missed it, it just hasn’t been released yet in Ontario. It’s unclear at this point if it’s still coming, or if the plans for release here have been scrapped.

  2. Does anyone know if this can be bought in Buffalo New York state? I’d be willing to drive there from Hamilton to buy some. Thanks. Maria.
