Great Lakes Brewery Releases Collaboration with Charlie Papazian for Ontario Craft Brewers Conference

TORONTO, ON – Great Lakes Brewery has announced the release of a new collaboration with Charlie Papazian, an icon and pioneer in the worlds of homebrewing and craft brewing.

Fist Bump Hybrid Lager (5% abv), described as “an American style hybrid lager [with] intoxicating floral complexity and clean smooth earthy hop bitterness”, has the following backstory:

A work in progress for close to a year, Charlie was to be in Niagara Falls this week as a guest of honour and keynote speaker for the Ontario Craft Brewers Conference. There were also plans for Charlie to visit us here at GLB to work on a beer together. Unfortunately, COVID changed those plans…

However, the show must go on, so, from the comforts of his home in Colorado, Charlie will virtually kick things off the conference on October 27th, and a beer was still brewed.

Over a delicious Zoom call back in September, GLB and Charlie teamed up to collaborate on Fist Bump, an American style hybrid lager. Charlie spent time with Mike Lackey (Brewing Operations Manager) and Nick Perry (Brewer, 7 Barrel Series) going over the recipe that he generously provided, chatted ingredients and crucial steps in the brewing process, shared some stories and answered a bunch of our questions.

Fist Bump is available now at the Great Lakes retail store and online shop. For more details, see the full release announcement.
